The 41 Lumber Timeline


1925

1925

Edward A. Hamar and Albert W. Quandt purchased the Pryor Lumber Company and renamed it Hamar Quandt Company. It consisted of several large warehouses and a multi-purpose building, with a large band saw for resawing timbers for the local mines, a planer, a profiler, and shop to manufacture windows and doors.

Opened a yard in Laurium to serve the north end of the Keweenaw Peninsula and the local copper mines.

1940

1940

We opened a yard in Ontonagon. This yard introduced the company to contracting, building the pilot mine shaft housing and twelve small houses for the White Pine Copper Mine. When copper prices declined in the 1960s, the yard was closed.

1975

1975

Opened a yard in Marquette and named it 41 Lumber.

1976

1976

Rebuilt the Laurium yard and the company was renamed 41 Lumber.

1980

1980

Moved the company headquarters to Quinnesec, MI where it opened a yard and distribution center.

1985

1985

Purchased Delta Do-It Center in Escanaba and consolidated the existing 41 Lumber location to the Delta Do-It site on US 2 & 41.

1991

1991

We purchased Ed's Building Supply in Escabana.

2003

2003

We purchased Fall's Building Supply in Newbury and Munising in Musining.

2005

2005

We purchased the Delta Do-It Center in Escabana and relocated our yard to it's location on US 41.

2021

2021

We opened our Kitchen, Bath and Design Center in downtown Iron Mountain.
